    • Solid understanding of US immigration law and an effective ability to apply this knowledge to client situations.

      JOB TITLE:        Canadian  Immigration Lawyer – Toronto Office



      The successful candidate will be responsible for advising clients with respect to obtaining temporary and permanent status in Canada. This includes all types of work permits (International Agreements, LMIA, reciprocity, significant benefit, open permits, post graduate permits), permanent residence (Express Entry, CEC, Federal Skilled Workers, PNP, Family Class), temporary resident visas, inadmissibility issues, permanent residence issues (PR card renewal, residency obligations, travel documents), citizenship matters.  This role requires excellent multi-tasking skills, organization and an ability to communicate effectively especially with high-volume corporate clients.


      We are seeking an individual with 2 to 4 years of experience exclusively in Canadian immigration law and deep expertise in dealing with high volume corporate clients.


      Role and Responsibilities: 


      • Analyzing facts and law to decide the most suitable application and process;
      • Assessing cases to determine appropriate work permit category as well as identifying and resolving any potential issues;
      • Reviewing and assessing client documentation in order to evaluate applicants' qualifications;
      • Preparing applications and providing advice throughout the application process including extensions and amendments, if applicable
      • Writing submission letters, drafting immigration forms and submitting application to the appropriate office
      • Keeping abreast of changes to laws, regulation, manuals, policies, procedure and process
      • Filing applications to the port of entry, case processing centre, central intake office, on line,  embassy/consulate or EDSC, as is appropriate
      • Advising clients as to legislative changes and the way it will impact their file or business;
      • Communicating updates on immigration process to clients;

       Skills & Qualifications:

      JOB TITLE:    Immigration Legal Assistant


      Guberman Garson LLP Immigration Law  is seeking an Immigration Legal Assistant with deep knowledge of all CIC temporary and permanent  programs. Experience in filing applications to ESDC, CIC, the port of entry, Vegreville, on-line, the express entry portal and at consulates is required.




      • Work directly with very busy firm partners in order to provide professional, timely and outstanding service to clients including large corporations and individuals
      • Review materials and forms provided by clients and provide feedback with respect to deficiencies and missing information
      • Follow up with clients for items requested
      • Maintain a detailed diarization system and keep detailed file list for bi-weekly review with lawyer
      • Independently draft impeccable correspondence, submissions, company letters of support and appropriate forms for lawyer review
      • Keep clients informed as to the status of their matter
      • Monitor files throughout
      • Communicate with applicants/company representative directly
      • Keep apprised of processing changes; manage various administrative duties including: file management, direct client contact-- phone calls, emails, and postal correspondence; file opening, prepare client correspondence, submissions to various immigration offices


      Additional Responsibilities:

      • Serve as primary point of contact for clients;

      • Interact with clients to obtain and complete documents required for applications

      • Prepare, organize and submit support/sponsor letters and all appropriate forms;

      • At the direction of lawyer, prepare instructions for clients/applicants

      • Provide updates to applicants and clients during the entire application process, including processing timelines,

      • Handle a high volume of immigration-related matters;

      • Follow up on documentation, completed questionnaires and forms; review case status;

      • Responding to client queries via email and telephone calls;

      • Follow up with clients to ensure receipt of documents



      • Post-secondary education, preferably in a related area

      • Minimum 3 years of experience working at an Immigration Law firm with a busy partner

      • Very detail oriented

      • Ability to work in a very fast paced environment.

Completion of a post-secondary credential in a related field is beneficial. The main functions of the job will consist of:


      • Communicating with HR representatives and applicants to obtain information required to assist in preparing applications and petitions;
      • Collecting information from HR representatives, employees and other applicants;
      • Drafting complete application packages for review by supervising attorney;
      • Making revisions to draft applications;

      • Following up with applications, applicants and HR representatives as needed;
